The Grapevine

The Grapevine is a small wine bar and boutique merchant on Huddersfield Road in Barnsley, built around bottles chosen for flavour rather than label recognition. Staff pour tasting flights alongside full glasses so customers can try something unfamiliar before committing to a bottle, and the shop side sells bottles to take home. Bespoke hampers and gift wrapping are made up on request, largely for birthdays and anniversaries rather than as a standing retail line. The room is small, with a handful of tables rather than a standing bar crowd, which keeps conversation at normal volume. It opens Tuesday to Thursday from two until eight in the evening, and Friday and Saturday from midday until ten. Regulars return often enough that staff know their usual order.
