The Square Cow occupies a sixteenth-century building on Wickham's market square, a few steps from the River Meon. The pub has traded under several names, including Wickham Bar & Bistro and Wickham Wine Bar, before returning to its current identity. It is run under lease by No.1 The Square (Wickham) Ltd, serving three rotating cask ales from Hampshire brewers such as Bowman and Flower Pots alongside wines, cocktails and soft drinks. The kitchen serves breakfast from 8am, a full food menu at lunch and dinner, pizza, and Sunday roasts with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. In 2023 the landlord proposed closing the pub to convert it into a seafood brasserie in partnership with a local estate; a backlash from residents led to those plans being dropped and the pub continuing to trade as before. The bar has wooden beams, a stone floor and a small upstairs dining room, and remains open seven days a week with coffee service from early morning.
