Two BridgesHotel

Built as the Saracen's Head in 1792 by Sir Francis Buller and renamed early in the twentieth century, the hotel stands where two bridges cross the West Dart and the Cowsic, in the middle of the moor — the site is named on a map of 1765. It belongs to Warm Welcome Hotels, the small private Devon group of the Cliff and Davies families, whose other house is the Bedford at Tavistock and whose associated brewery, Dartmoor at Princetown, supplies the Jail Ale in the bar — the hotel calls it its own. Thirty-two rooms across Premier, Historic and Country grades, open year-round, with the moor in every direction and not much else — which is the point.
