Volcanic Editions has operated from Rose Hill Terrace since 2010, when printmaker Ian Brown left a decade running the FdA Fine Art course at the University of Brighton to set up his own studio. Brown works across screenprinting, intaglio, monotype, photopolymer etching, drypoint and carborundum, offering editioning services to established artists as well as one-to-one sessions for those learning a printmaking process for the first time. He was elected to the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers as RE in 2024 and belongs to both the Printmakers Council and PRISM. The studio runs as a single operation from its Rose Hill Terrace premises, with sessions typically available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and remains one of the few workshops in the city built around traditional hand-editioning rather than digital reproduction.
