The Bevy reopened in 2014 after residents in Bevendean formed a community benefit society and raised £200,000 to buy back their local, with a further £175,000 grant funding later improvements. Bevendean Community Pub Limited now runs the site on a lease from East Brighton Trust CIC, owned by more than 700 local shareholders rather than a brewery or pub company. Profits fund a training kitchen that teaches young people to cook, a weekday community lunch priced at £3.50, and a wheelchair-accessible minibus that collects residents for Friday lunch club and Albion home games. The pub won a National Association of Care Catering award in 2021 for its meals-on-wheels service, and it bills itself as the first co-operative pub on a UK housing estate.
