Claire Acworth and Rob Hill run Wernog Wood from a woodland smallholding about 200 metres from Offa's Dyke, close to Ruthin in the Clwydian Range. Since 2018 the pair have built a programme of hands-on courses taught by practising makers, covering woodland crafts, blacksmithing, ceramics, glass, printmaking and leatherwork, with sessions running from a single day to a full week. Groups stay small, capped at around ten people, and course fees include tea, cake and a cooked lunch taken in the woodland's kitchen and living space. Guests can extend a visit by camping on site in bell tents or bringing their own, with the Red Shed available as fixed accommodation. Courses attract complete beginners as well as returning students.
