Rich Adams' family has sold fish in Newlyn since the 1980s, when his father and grandfather started Trelawney Fish from a stand at the morning auction. In 2021 he opened Argoe with Ben Coombs, previously head chef at London's Rochelle Canteen, in a purpose-built, wood-clad room overlooking the harbour a few steps from the fish market. The short menu is dictated by the day's catch and cooked simply — 'salt and oil, that's all you need,' as Adams puts it — with natural wine alongside, the whole place pitched as a tribute to the town's fishing heritage and the people still working it. Around twenty covers inside, and as many again outside.
