Sion Jones took an interest in butchery at twelve, helping out at the village shop in Llanon before an apprenticeship under its then owner, Ben Evans. In April 2024 he and Sulwen took on the lease themselves and opened Cigydd Sion Jones on Bridge Street, in premises that had long served as the village butcher's shop. Both raised on beef and sheep farms, they built the business around family stock and half a dozen regular suppliers, including Morfa Farm two miles away, which provides beef and spring lamb. Beef, lamb, pork and poultry are cut to order, with an emphasis on low food miles over imported meat. The shop won the Young Entrepreneur Award at the Caru Ceredigion Awards, recognition for two young farmers turned butchers building a trade from scratch in their own village.
