ClayBox Studio

ClayBox Studio is run by Catherine Day from a converted space at 131 Wellsway, reached round the back on Old Wells Road, about a mile south of the city centre. Day spent twenty years as a shoe designer before retraining in ceramics under Sophie Southgate in Kent, then set up her own studio after moving to Bath to be near family. She teaches hand-building rather than wheel-throwing as a starting point, running beginner classes, private one-to-one tuition and a monthly membership for people who already know their way around clay and want regular access to the space. Sessions are kept small enough for Day to work with each student directly rather than run a lecture format. Seasonal workshops, including one for handmade Christmas decorations, run alongside the regular class timetable.
