Dyfi Wholefoods

Dyfi Wholefoods was opened in 2013 by former staff of Machynlleth's old Quarry Shop, when that long-running wholefood café closed, and is co-run by Jonathon Gross and Angie Smith as a proper wholefood shop with a refill section — grains, pulses, dried goods and store-cupboard staples sold loose, the way the town has bought them for decades. Machynlleth has a deep green streak, home to the Centre for Alternative Technology up the road, and Dyfi is its wholefood shop, described by its regulars as a community shop as much as a business. Bring your own containers. It is that kind of place, in that kind of town.
