FORGE

Amanda Mansell, a jewellery designer, opened FORGE on Leather Lane in February 2023, inside London's historic Hatton Garden jewellery quarter. The space combines a retail counter for independent designer-makers with a full workshop programme: Learn-To sessions cover hand engraving, etching, foldform work and laser welding, alongside single-day Make-Day and longer Mastermaker courses. Monthly Meet the Maker evenings let visitors talk to the jewellers whose work is sold on the shop floor. In 2024, the National Association of Jewellers gave FORGE its Community Engagement award for the sector-networking events it runs alongside the retail and teaching sides of the business. The workshop area sits behind the shop counter, so customers buying a finished piece can watch students at the workbenches through the same room.
