Gorilla Spirits Co. distils gin, vodka, rum and coffee liqueur from a former workshop at Manor Farm in Upton Grey, a village in the northeast corner of Hampshire close to Odiham. Andy Daniels set up the company in 2011 after leaving a corporate career, and its first release, Silverback Mountain Strength Gin, reached bottles in December 2015. Small batches are still made on site, and visitors can book a distillery tour and tasting, a cocktail masterclass, or a hands-on Gin School session where they distil and bottle their own gin to take home. The business donates £1 from every bottle of gin, vodka and rum sold to the Gorilla Organization, a conservation charity working to protect gorillas in central Africa, and has passed £60,000 in donations since launch. The on-site shop and tasting room sell the full range direct from the distillery, along with gift sets and cocktail kits for visitors travelling from Basingstoke, Odiham and further afield.
