HEAD is a family-owned bookshop on Post House Wynd, a narrow pedestrian lane off Darlington's High Row, sitting between a hairdresser and a bakehouse and opposite a long-standing jeweller. It stocks new and second-hand books across a broad spread of subjects, with staff on hand to track down particular titles, and also carries a selection of vinyl records and DVDs. Opening runs Monday to Saturday with the occasional Sunday afternoon, and payment is by cash or bank transfer. The shop moved a short distance within Post House Wynd to its present premises and trades as a single independent site. It is one of the few general independent bookshops left in the town, working the second-hand trade alongside new stock.
