Heart of Wales Brewery is a six-barrel microbrewery in Llanwrtyd Wells, set up in 2004 and housed in renovated stables behind the family-run Neuadd Arms Hotel, whose bars act as its tap. It brews with water from its own borehole, sunk in 2010 to draw on the Cambrian aquifer, and works to a chemical- and sugar-free method aimed at older ale styles. The core range runs from the light Irfon Valley Bitter and Aur Cymru through the 4.1% Heart of Wales Bitter to Welsh Black stout, Noble Eden Ale and the stronger Inn Stable, with fourteen or fifteen brews produced across a year. Some are made for local causes, including a beer for the town's Man versus Horse Marathon. Bottles and casks are sold locally and supplied to regional pubs.
