Honest Jon's has sold records on Portobello Road since 1974 — jazz, blues, reggae, soul and the 'outernational' fringes, a shop of real depth run by Mark Ainley and Alan Scholefield. It also runs its own label, co-founded with Damon Albarn, which tells you the seriousness of the place. Through every twist of west London's fortunes it has kept its corner of the market, one of London's essential record shops. Come off the Portobello crowds and into the racks; the staff know exactly where the good stuff is.
