Jake Irving throws sculptural pottery figures from red earthenware clay in his Kirkcudbright studio on St Mary Street, firing each piece twice, first at 1000C and again at 1120C after glazing. His partner Claire runs the attached shop and coffee counter, serving home-baked cakes and soup alongside shelves of his glazed animal figures and vessels. The business opened at this address in 2018, part of Kirkcudbright's small cluster of artist-run galleries and studios. Pieces range from simple dog and cat figurines to larger decorative and functional ware, each shaped by hand rather than cast from a mould. The shop keeps shorter hours than most Kirkcudbright galleries, open Wednesday to Saturday, 10:30 to 15:30, reflecting its dual role as working studio and cafe.
