Lanark Distillery is a small-batch gin producer founded by Ulrich Ixkes, who studied brewing and distilling at Heriot-Watt University before working as a head brewer and distiller and starting the business to celebrate his home town. Every batch runs through a traditional alembic copper pot still rather than a column still, a slower method that keeps closer control over the botanicals. The core range takes its name from Corra Linn, the highest of the four waterfalls in the Falls of Clyde Reserve outside Lanark, and comprises a classic London Dry-style gin alongside full-strength raspberry and grapefruit variants. Bottles are sold online and through independent stockists rather than a distillery-based visitor shop, since production runs from a small site rather than a tourist-facing still house. The business trades under Ixkes's own direction rather than as part of a larger drinks group.
