The Biggar Bookshop opened on the town's High Street in November 1993 as Atkinson-Pryce, founded by a husband-and-wife team who later sold the business to Chris in 1999. A 2008 extension almost doubled the shop's original small footprint, and a 2018 renovation added natural light throughout. Bookseller Millie McCosh-Thomson now runs the shop with a small team, handling stock selection, events and marketing between them. The shop hosts a regular book group and author events through the year, including a local-history talk in 2025, and sells gift vouchers alongside its fiction, non-fiction and children's sections. Customers can order through the shop's own account with Bookshop.org, and audiobooks are available through a Libro.fm partnership. The shop opens an extra Sunday once a month. It has traded from the same High Street address for more than three decades.
