ArtyBits was formed in 2017 by Sue and her daughter Chrissy, who converted a barn on their smallholding at Midhenshilwood Farm near Braehead into a working art studio after Sue moved to Scotland in 2009 and restored the farm herself. Sue, a former staff nurse and primary-school ICT lead, works across pyrography, acrylics, watercolours, oils and woodwork; Chrissy, a former occupational therapist, teaches drawing rooted in her own training in pencil and charcoal. Weekly sessions run for different ages, from a Sunday children's club to evening classes for teenagers and adults, alongside a Monday club and monthly sessions pairing painting with pyrography. The barn also takes private party and team-building bookings and produces commissioned pieces and school projects. A small attached shop sells finished work, open Sunday and Monday mornings. The studio remains a two-person, family-run operation on working farmland.
