Long Clawson Dairy has made cheese in the village since 1912, when Thomas Hoe Stevenson and eleven local farmers bought the former Royal Oak public house to found a cooperative dairy. The site remains one of only six producers of Blue Stilton in Britain, still using milk from farms within twenty-five miles, and its Stilton was the first British cheese awarded Protected Designation of Origin status in 1996. The visitor shop at 28 West End sells the full range, including Blue Stilton, White Stilton, Rutland Red and blended cheeses such as Cotswold and Huntsman, alongside other local produce. It is open only on the last Friday and Saturday of each month, drawing buyers from across the Vale of Belvoir who plan their visit around those two days rather than call in casually.
