The Market Tavern is a small free house behind Core of the Poodle on Market Street in Haverfordwest, opened by Cheryl Herbert after she and her husband Malcolm restored the stone outbuilding, once a chemist's shop, that stands behind their record shop. A large fireplace and log burner heat the single room, and the bar pours two of the record shop's own Core of the Poodle beers on cask alongside up to six further keg lines. There is no food menu beyond the odd bar snack, and no music system, so conversation and the fire are the main draw. The pub keeps short, published hours, open Wednesday to Saturday afternoons and evenings, and closed the rest of the week, with step-free access into a small garden at the rear.
