Mitchel & Co,Jewellery Quarter

Mitchel Bicknell grew up in his family's shop, G L Bicknell and Sons, established in 1979, where he learned diamond grading and craftsmanship from his father before studying for a Diamond Grading Diploma at the Diamond High Council in Antwerp. In 2011 he launched Mitchel & Co with his wife Helen from a workshop at 4 The Big Peg, making engagement rings, wedding bands and eternity rings from scratch on the premises rather than buying in finished stock. The business describes itself as the only Jewellery Quarter jeweller making all of its rings entirely in-house, from initial design through to stone-setting. It remains a single-site, family-run workshop rather than a multi-branch retailer, with Mitchel continuing to design a limited-edition signature collection alongside bespoke commissions for engagement and wedding rings.
