Pavlov Ceramics runs from a workshop unit on Pope Street in the Jewellery Quarter, teaching wheel-throwing and hand-building to groups capped at ten students. Courses range from a two-hour taster on the wheel to eight-week programmes covering clay preparation, throwing and glazing, run by working potters rather than hobbyists teaching part-time. The studio also fires and glazes work for members who want to keep coming back to finish pieces between courses, charging by the kilogram of clay used. A sister space, Glaze Room on nearby Caroline Street, handles pottery painting for those who want colour without the wheel. Students travel in from as far as Wolverhampton and Walsall for a course, drawn by the studio's reputation for small classes and hands-on attention rather than a quick corporate team-building session.
