Oundle Museum occupies the former Courthouse on Mill Road, a short walk from the town's market square, and is run entirely by volunteers from the local community. Displays cover the prehistoric period through to the twentieth century, with Roman coins, pottery and jewellery found in the area sitting alongside exhibits on Oundle's shoemaking and wool trades. A changing exhibition room sits next to the permanent galleries, giving repeat visitors something different to see each year. The museum is a member of the Northamptonshire Heritage Forum, and admission is free, with donations funding the upkeep of the building and its collection. Books and leaflets on local history, many published by the museum itself, are sold at the front desk, with proceeds put back into the collection.
