Nene Valley Brewery has brewed at Oundle Wharf, on the river below the town, since September 2012, having started trial brewing on a 400-litre kit in a West Street outbuilding the previous year. Directors Richard Simpson and David Burnett, who founded the company in 2011, installed a 2,500-litre plant from Canadian maker DME at the Wharf site, followed by a bespoke 15-barrel brewhouse later the same year; the brewery doubled its floorspace in 2016. Its own brewery tap, Tap & Kitchen, opened on site in 2014. The core range includes Release The Chimps, Nene Valley Bitter, Blond Session Ale and Egyptian Cream, sold as cask, keg, can and bottle, with most of the range brewed to test below 20 parts per million of gluten. A brewery shop at the Wharf sells the range directly to the public on Friday and Saturday afternoons, alongside seasonal and collaborative brews.
