Parkhall Garden Centre sits just outside Somersham, on Parkhall Road, and has been run by the Rigby family for close to three decades. It grew out of a small nursery established in the 1970s and remains one of the few independent, family-run garden centres left in Cambridgeshire, rather than part of a larger group. The business grows around 50,000 plants on site each year, including nearly all of its own bedding stock, and specialises in less common specimen trees, bamboo, conifers, Japanese maples and topiary that are harder to find at bigger retailers. Staff give advice on planting and care throughout the year. An on-site cafe, Hollies Tea Room, serves food and drinks to visitors, making the centre a stop for both serious gardeners and those passing through on a day out in the Fens.
