Perfectly Potty

Perfectly Potty is a purpose-built pottery studio run by Mellie Alexander from Grange Cottage at Morestead, on the downland south of Winchester. Alexander teaches five-week beginner courses in throwing on the wheel alongside shorter taster sessions, throwing and painting parties for groups of up to ten, and school holiday clubs for children. Every piece is hand-thrown in stoneware, then glazed and fired on site, ready for collection within a month. The studio also takes bespoke commissions for one-off pieces. Alongside regular teaching, Alexander opens the studio to the public each year for the Hampshire Open Studios Art Trail, a countywide event now in its twenty-fifth year, giving visitors a chance to see work in progress and buy directly from the wheel. Visits and lessons run by appointment rather than fixed opening hours, booked by phone or email in advance.
