Southsea Brewing Company was established in 2014, starting out in a former ammunition store built into the walls of Southsea Castle, the sixteenth-century fortification built under Henry VIII. As demand grew beyond the original kit, the brewery moved in 2023 to a larger site at 104-106 Milton Road, Portsmouth, installing a new brewhouse and fermenters that more than doubled capacity. Beers include Casemate IPA, X-Ray Spex double dry hopped IPA, Lights Out black IPA and Heavy Artillery double IPA. The brewery's beer is served at its own pub, The Brewers Tap, on Eastney Road in Southsea, and supplied to other independent venues around the city. The brewery opens occasionally for public visits, with times announced on social media.
