Pigeon Books

Pigeon Books is an independent bookshop on Albert Road in Southsea, opened in 2020 by Mel and Phil Davies after they began selling books from a market stall and pop-up events around the city. The shop specialises in new fiction, queer literature and diverse children's books, alongside poetry, nature writing, biography, music and travel titles. Customers can order audiobooks through a Libro.fm partnership and request author events and book ordering at the counter. A loyalty card scheme and mailing list support repeat customers, and the shop stocks gift items alongside books. The shop closes on Mondays and Sundays, opening Tuesday to Saturday. It is Southsea's only independent shop selling new books rather than second-hand stock.
