Sea Kayak Guides is a sea kayaking business based on the St Davids peninsula, working out of Solva and the surrounding coastline. It was founded in 2008 by three experienced coaches, Nige Robinson, Martin Leonard and Ben Fothergill, who between them hold British Canoeing qualifications up to sea kayak leader level. The business offers guided trips for those with no previous experience, multi-day expeditions, wildlife-watching paddles and dedicated coaching towards recognised paddlesport awards, including sessions on tidal races such as The Bitches off Ramsey Island. Groups are kept small and trips are planned around tide, swell and wind rather than a fixed itinerary. The founders continue to guide personally rather than delegating to a wider staff of instructors, and the business operates seasonally, broadly from spring through autumn, with some winter coaching by arrangement. It has built its reputation on word of mouth and repeat bookings from paddlers returning for further coaching.
