Somerset BoatCentre

Somerset Boat Centre operates from Maidenmead Moorings on the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal at North Newton, hiring self-drive narrowboats, Canadian canoes, kayaks and paddleboards for use on the canal. The company, incorporated in 2021, also runs guided narrowboat trips with commentary along the towpath, which follows National Cycle Route 3 towards Bridgwater and Taunton, passing the Somerset Space Walk sculpture trail at Maunsel Lock. It is an RYA-recognised training centre offering inland waterways helmsman and first aid courses, and operates a licensed bar and kitchen at the moorings, with pop-up caterers running food some evenings. Moorings and private venue hire are also available on site. It opens Monday and Tuesday, 9am to 5pm, and Wednesday to Sunday, 9am to 9pm.
