The Walled Garden at Mells occupies a historic walled enclosure in the village of Mells, combining a plant nursery with a seasonal café. The nursery propagates and sells a changing range of plants, while the adjoining shop stocks gifts and homeware for house and garden. The café is run by Somerset-born chef Jesse Gilchrist of Burnt Honey, who bakes cakes and pastries in-house, serves wood-fired pizzas from an outdoor oven, and builds lunch menus around produce from local farms and small suppliers. Visitors eat at tables set among flowerbeds and fruit trees, with views over the surrounding countryside. The garden is managed on peat-free, chemical-free lines and doubles as a habitat for local wildlife. It opens from April to September, Wednesday to Sunday, closing on bank holiday Mondays.
