Owen Postgate opened Rye in the spring of 2017 inside a renovated former church on Whittox Lane, sharing the building with the RISE arts venue — a bakery-café that mills its sourcing decisions as locally as the flour, which comes from nearby growers wherever the harvest allows. A second site followed at Station Approach, adding a bakery shop and a pizzeria that runs into the evenings. The original church room keeps café hours; between the two, Frome gets its bread, its brunch and its Friday-night pizza from the same independent hands.
