St Werburghs City Farm Cafe sits within the city farm on Watercress Road, which volunteers established in 1980 on a stretch of land beside the River Frome. The kitchen uses vegetables, eggs and, several times a year, meat produced on the farm itself, alongside bought-in ingredients chosen for their ethical sourcing. In 2008 it won the inaugural Best Ethical Contribution category at the Observer Food Monthly Awards. The building has an irregular, timber-framed interior built up over years by farm volunteers, with a balcony overlooking the animal paddocks and vegetable beds. Dishes include hearty baps, soups and a scrambled tofu breakfast alongside meat options, catering equally to vegetarians, vegans and omnivores. The cafe operates from this single St Werburghs site, run as part of the farm's charitable structure rather than as a separate business.
