Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre stands on the edge of Bodmin Moor at Upton Cross, near Liskeard, on what was previously a pig farm before Ewart and Anne Sturrock converted it into a theatre in 1990. Performances take place in a roughly four-hundred-seat tented amphitheatre, open at the sides to the moorland air but covered overhead, staging touring and community productions across theatre, music and dance through the year. Recent programming has included Shakespeare and Ibsen alongside a Royal Marines Band concert and a preview tied to the Lorient Interceltic Festival. Sterts is registered as a charity and community interest company, run from this single Upton Cross site with no other venues. Its open-air design and moorland setting set it apart from conventional indoor theatres in the county.
