Sweet Afton

Sweet Afton occupies a building on Brunswick Street that once served as the Ulster Female Penitentiary, opening as a bar in the closing weeks of October 2015 and taking its name from Robert Burns's 1791 poem. The premises pairs a dark, snug-lined bar downstairs with a rooftop terrace called the Perch upstairs, both under the same roof rather than separate branches. The kitchen runs a weekend brunch menu alongside a regular curry club night, and screens major sporting fixtures. Cocktails, wine and cask beer are served from a central bar surrounded by stools and curios collected over the years. It operates as a single bar and kitchen in Belfast's Linen Quarter, with no other branches trading under the name.
