An Ceathrú Póilí has operated as Belfast's Irish-language bookshop since 1983, when it began as a project of Ardscoil Bhéal Feirste. After a fire destroyed its original premises, the shop moved between temporary sites, including Conway Mill, before settling permanently in 1991 within Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich, a former Broadway Presbyterian church at 216 Falls Road. The single-site shop now stocks more than 3,000 titles, spanning Irish-language fiction, non-fiction, dictionaries, children's books and traditional music recordings, alongside English-language books on Irish history and politics. It welcomes browsers regardless of their level of Irish. Opening hours run Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.30pm, and Saturday, 9.30am to 4pm. The shop remains a fixture of the Falls Road's Gaeltacht Quarter, tied closely to the language revival movement that shaped the surrounding cultural centre.
