Voodoo Soup Records opened on Winetavern Street on 20 October 2018, close to Smithfield Market in Belfast city centre. Run by Marion, the shop occupies two floors of a single site, with new vinyl upstairs and second-hand and imported stock, including releases sourced from the United States, on the floor below. Genres range from electronica and dance to rock and soul, with a rotating stock of local artist pressings. The shop has no other branches. Staff maintain a turntable for browsing before purchase and regularly restock second-hand collections bought directly from sellers. Voodoo Soup takes its name from the 1995 Jimi Hendrix compilation album. It has become a fixture of the independent record shops that have grown up around the Cathedral Quarter and Smithfield area since the late 2010s.
