The Beverley Bookshop occupies a two-storey shopfront on Butcher Row, a few steps from Saturday Market, and is now run by the second generation of the family that founded it. The ground floor carries fiction, children's books and gift titles alongside cards, jigsaws and stationery; the upstairs room is given over largely to local history, railways and non-fiction, arranged on tables that staff change through the month. Special orders are taken by phone as well as in person, with books held at the counter for collection where stock allows. Recommendations come from staff working the shop floor rather than an online algorithm. The shop keeps traditional Monday-to-Saturday hours with a shorter Sunday opening, a pattern more common to the town's older Butcher Row traders than to newer arrivals on the street.
