The JewelleryWorkshop

The Jewellery Workshop has traded from 5 Monk Street in Abergavenny since 1987 and is run by Lawrence Rendall. It combines a small shop with a working bench, so alongside a stock of gold and silver pieces it takes on repairs, alterations and remodelling, much of it done on the premises rather than sent away. The workshop makes items to commission, from single bespoke pieces designed with the customer to remounting old stones into new settings, and can source particular gems or finished work when needed. Because the goldsmithing happens on site, turnaround on repairs tends to be quicker than at shops that post work out. It is a long-established, independent, single-location business of a type that has grown less common on the high street: the town-centre jeweller who actually works the metal.
