The Owl andthe Pussycat

The Owl and the Pussycat opened in December 2016 inside a former children's bookshop on Northfield Avenue, the shelving left in place and stocked with grown-up books and games rather than stripped out. Two ex-teachers set up the first micropub in west London here, brewing on site under the Marko Paulo name; brewing paused in 2020 and resumed in 2023, with the operation recently marking its five-hundredth brewing batch. Up to six cask ales are served through handpumps on a small counter, alongside ciders, perries, wine and soft drinks, with a window onto the cellar at the same level as the bar. The pub is leasehold, run by Marko Paulo Ltd under an individual freeholder, and keeps a deliberately compact, conversation-first room rather than expanding for volume. Dogs and board games are both welcome.
