The Saltwater Brig stands at 43 Rowreagh Road on the A20 Portaferry road, around two miles south of Kircubbin on the shore of Strangford Lough. The building is said to date from around 1765, and the current operators have run the country pub and restaurant as a single site since 2005, serving locally sourced beef, lamb and seafood in a dining room and adjoining beer garden overlooking the water. The premises has been named among the top 100 hospitality businesses in the north of Ireland by industry peers in recent years. Wheelchair access and staff trained to support customers living with dementia are among its stated facilities. It trades as one pub rather than a chain, and the Lough setting remains the draw for visitors travelling the peninsula road between Kircubbin and Portaferry.
