Bruce Rennie cooks alone. The Fife-born chef — the Balmoral, Martin Wishart, four and a half years at the Gurnard's Head — opened The Shore on Alverton Street in 2015 and now runs it supper-club style: one sitting a night, Tuesday to Saturday, everyone arriving at half past six for a tasting menu that follows whatever was landed at Newlyn that morning, cooked with a pronounced Japanese and Asian influence and paid for up front. He published a cookbook of the same name in 2019. Book ahead — reservations close at two on the day, and there are no walk-ins.
