The free house by the church at Zennor — built, the pub says, in 1271 for the masons raising St Senara's next door, though English Heritage reads the present fabric as early eighteenth century. Either way it has been the village's pub a long time: D.H. Lawrence took a room here for a fortnight in 1916. Stone floors and no reservations — tables go first come, first served, with food at lunch and early evening — and beds next door in the White House, a Grade II listed house of 1838 run together with the pub, breakfast cooked by the Tinners' chef. On the coast road between St Ives and Land's End.
