Yorkshire Dales Brewery operates from Abbey Works in Askrigg, between Hawes and Leyburn, having been founded by Rob and Anne Wiltshire in 2005. Brewing began in a converted garage near Leyburn before moving through a former milking parlour and eventually settling at the current site, where a tap and bottle shop opened in 2017. The couple run every stage of production themselves, from recipe development to bottling, supplying cask and keg ale to more than 150 pubs across the north of England. The range includes traditional bitters and stouts alongside modern pale ales, sours and pastry stouts sold in cans. The bottle shop opens Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, and Saturday, midday to 6pm; the taproom and beer garden open Friday and Saturday afternoons from March to September, with occasional live music.
