Aimi Cairns began making jewellery after taking evening classes from 2006, then started her own small business in 2014 while working from home. She hand-makes pieces individually or in small batches at her studio in Milton of Crathes, near Banchory, using certified recycled silver and Scottish gemstones sourced from an independent lapidarist in Fife. Packaging is kept minimal and recyclable, and non-toxic materials are used throughout. Alongside selling finished pieces through the studio, craft fairs and a small number of independent retailers, Cairns runs hands-on workshops from the same premises, including sessions on making sea glass rings and pendants. The business operates from this single Aberdeenshire studio, with no separate retail premises.
