Audio Gold has traded from Park Road since 1993, when founder Richard Goldsmith started out selling second-hand hi-fi from a small unit before moving into the current former bank building at 308-310. The shop deals in used and refurbished amplifiers, turntables, speakers, cassette decks, CD players and reel-to-reel machines alongside new equipment, and its workshop still repairs and services Technics turntables, one of the few outlets in London still offering this. Racks of second-hand vinyl cover rock, soul, jazz, reggae and electronic genres, with stock turning over as customers trade in old systems. The back of the shop stocks DJ decks, studio monitors and PA equipment, some available for hire for events. Goldsmith built the business over three decades before his death; staff who trained under him continue to run day-to-day repairs and sales. Appointments are not required for browsing, though repair drop-offs are best booked ahead by phone.
