Highgate Cemetery

A Victorian cemetery opened in 1839 and maintained today by a charitable trust, offering guided walking tours through the West Cemetery's catacombs and overgrown paths, and access to the East Cemetery, where Karl Marx is buried. Tours are led by trained volunteer guides rather than a commercial operator, most days of the week.
