Boghall Butchers has traded from Margaret Avenue in the Boghall area of Bathgate since William opened the shop in May 1975. His son Paul now runs the business day to day, with Paul's daughter Mariesha also working alongside him, making it a three-generation family butcher rather than a franchised counter. The shop makes sausages, cooked meats, haggis and pies on the premises, and its scotch pies were named Supreme Champion at the British Pie Awards in 2025; the business was also named Best Butchers in a 2021 local business awards round and Scottish Butcher Shop of the Year in 2015. Boghall Butchers is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays, opening early on Saturdays for weekend trade. It has remained a single shop on the same Boghall premises throughout its fifty-year history, rather than expanding into other towns, and is known locally through its community ties and repeat award recognition.
