Wm Cadenhead was founded in Aberdeen in 1842 and now trades as Scotland's oldest independent whisky bottler, choosing casks from working distilleries and bottling them in small batches without chill-filtration or added colouring. The company's London shop moved from Covent Garden to Chiltern Street in Marylebone in 2008, fitting a tasting room into the lower ground floor. Cadenhead's remains one of only three shops the company runs itself, alongside outlets in Edinburgh and Campbeltown. Staff pour six-dram guided tastings for £45 a head and host monthly sessions previewing new releases. Besides whisky, the shelves carry the company's own rum, gin, calvados, cognac and armagnac.
